Umbria, Italy | 100% Sangiovese | 13% ABV | Aged in Oak & Bottle
From the rolling hills of Umbria, where tradition runs deep and the soils are rich with stories, Il Ruspo is a soulful, structured red crafted by the Barbi family—winemakers since 1932, when Enzo Barbi first set out to produce honest, value-driven wines of character and place.
This 100% Sangiovese is fermented in stainless steel, then aged in American oak barrels for six months before bottling and cellar refinement. The result is a deep ruby red wine with a rustic heart and elegant bones. The nose is intense and complex, evoking underbrush, dried herbs, and wild bramble, wrapped around a core of burnt cherry, tobacco leaf, and baking spice.
On the palate, it’s spicy, rich, and full-bodied, yet balanced by natural acidity and a mineral edge. Notes of sage, dried fruit, and earth linger on the finish, making this wine both age-worthy and eminently drinkable today.
Pair with pasta al ragù, grilled sausage, roast duck, or aged pecorino. A true taste of Umbria—unpolished in the best way, warm, and deeply expressive.
