Slovenia | 100% Blaufränkisch | 15 Months in Oak | Organic & Natural

Peter doesn’t follow rules—he rewrites them. From the gravel-strewn edge of his Slovenian vineyard, where low-yield vines strain against the elements, comes this radical, deeply expressive Blaufränkisch, unlike anything the variety has seen before. Sourced from 20–55-year-old vines rooted in soils rich with marl and sand, this wine is the result of both tradition and wild invention.

After a natural fermentation, Peter took things one step further: he froze the wine outdoors, then siphoned off only the partially thawed juice, concentrating its core into something otherworldly. Aged for 15 months in a mix of 70% French and 30% Hungarian oak, the result is dense, perfumed, and utterly singular.

On the nose, it opens with an arresting mix of ripe blueberries, sultry blackberries, and blue violets, laced with exotic touches of Middle Eastern spice—think cardamom, cumin, and clove. The palate is bold and textured, grounded by slightly rugged tannins and lifted by a sinewy elegance that lingers long after the last sip.

Pair with: Detroit or Chicago-style pizza, braised beef, butter-poached salmon, aged cheese, or mild Indian curries—though honestly, this wine is a statement best heard on its own.

Elevation: 820–1300 ft | Farming: Organic, natural | Bottled on-site
A wine as daring as its maker—introspective, defiant, and full of life.
