Beaujolais & Surrounding Villages | 95% Gamay, 5% Gamaret | Natural Farming | Arriving June

From the volcanic and granite-strewn soils of Beaujolais and its lesser-known outposts, Coq Léon is a spirited, naturally farmed red born of tradition and experimentation. Crafted by Dominique Piron’s successor Julien Revillon, this vintage blends 95% Gamay with a rare 5% of Gamaret, an obscure Swiss-born crossing of Gamay and Reichensteiner that lends color, spice, and a whisper of mischief.

Hand-harvested, whole-cluster fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in concrete vats, the wine is unmanipulated and full of life—plump, glou-glou, and disarmingly complex. On the nose, it bursts with wild red fruit—pomegranate, blackberry, cranberry, and violet—wrapped in earthy tones of cedar, forest floor, and soft tobacco. The palate is fleshy and bold, yet nimble, with juicy layers of cherry, raspberry leather, and a hint of spice, finishing with gentle tannins and a rustic charm.

Easy to love and hard to put down, this is Beaujolais reimagined—a vibrant, food-loving red that pairs beautifully with roast chicken, charcuterie boards, or anything you’d eat in a countryside bistro with friends and a table full of laughter.

Serve slightly chilled and without pretense.
