Thillardon Chénas Les Carrieres
Chénas has never experienced the attention that other Crus have which has encouraged a reputation that wines from its northerly vineyards are mysterious and rare. Paul-Henri and Charles began working vines in Chénas in 2008 and new vintages are showing as structured, elegant wines with a certain wildness that has solidified the brothers as natural wine makers to watch. This single vineyard bottling comes from 40 year old vines grown on schist and granite soils, semi-carbonic with fermentation occurring in cement tanks and used oak. This wine shows clean flavors of fresh strawberries, earth and mushroom. Try if you love Burgundies.
