Guerila Pinela Vipavska Dolina 2018
Pinela shows up in literature as early as 1324 in a listing of grapes in eastern Italy, but is now almost exclusively grown in the Vipava Valley in Slovenia. Zmago Petric, winemaker at Guerila, hand harvests and sorts Pinela grapes for this bottle. Grapes spend 10 hours with their skins, developing an aromatic apricot must characteristic of this region. Fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel with 6 months on lees. The result is a silky bodied wine with herbal flavors of summer savory and verbena. Light citrus with a load of minerality.
