Costador Terroirs Garnatxa
Wine maker Joan Franquet focuses on indigenous Catalan grapes. This cuvée of younger Garnatcha vines from 20-75 years are planted on just one hectare. Fruit is hand harvested and mostly whole cluster fermentation happens in clay amphorae for 12 weeks and then neutral French oak for 8-9 months. All biodynamic fruit, no fining/filtering and all indigenous yeasts. This is a beauty bomb of brambly, yet refined purple fruit. It’s an explosion of blackberry, raspberry, and huckleberry with a long finish of silky tannins and an acid drop on the tip of the tongue. It’s the perfect balance of natural and grace.
