Chamonard Le Clos de Lys Morgon 1997
We’re really grateful to have picked up some of this legendary bottle. Most fruit for this cuvée was sourced from the adored Corcelette parcel, hand harvested late for maximum ripeness. Traditional whole cluster carbonic maceration took place over 10-20 days after which juice was moved to foudres to rest on the lees for an additional 8-10 months. This bottle is rich and approaching full bodied-atypical for Beaujolais but not unheard of for a classic Morgon. Flavors of violets, iron, earth and raspberry.
