Cascina I Carpini Rugiada del Mattino 2017
Tucked in to the Tortona Hills, Cascina I Carpini places focus on indigenous grapes. Although popular in the 15th century (Leonardo da Vinci was a big fan) Timorasso has remained relatively unknown until a recent revival. The grape is quite sensitive; thin skinned berries fall from the vine easily, but when cultivated carefully this wonderfully aromatic varietal can be reminiscent of a very dry Riesling. This skin contact expression provides flavors of banana and lemon drop with a touch of Summer savory and a splash of saline on the balanced, acidic finish. A perfect companion for shellfish and leafy greens.
