Lightwell Survey "Strange Days" 2019
Shenandoah Valley, VA
65% Pinot Gris, 15% Blaufränkisch, 10% Petit Manseng, 10% Riesling
This wine is more orange than rosé, but the color is a dark pink somewhere between grapefruit and blood orange. A whole cluster, semi-carbonic, co-fermentation makes this a big juicy and freaky wine with a savory front palate and a dry snappy finish. Malo takes place in neutral barrels with lees aging to accomplish a silky mouthfeel that balances any volatile acidity.
