Pithon-Paille “Grololo” NV
Loire Valley, France
Winemaker Jo Pithon pioneered natural wine making in the Loire Valley beginning in the late 1970s. This is a bouncy and juicy bottle of the, unfortunately, overlooked varietal Grolleau. Flavors of earthy redcurrant and drippy ripe cherry are kept fresh and dry from an entirely stainless steel vinification. A light filtration makes low sulfur addition possible. “Grololo” reminds us of glou glou wines; quaffable guzzlers fit for hot nights on the roof.
