Escándalo Carignan 2019
Central Valley, Chile
Winemaker Mauricio Veloso Estuardo studied enology in Spain and traveled the country learning minimal intervention techniques before returning to his native Chile to start the Escándalo project. Estuardo focuses on single varietal expressions, seeking out older plantings through Chile’s wine regions. Grapes from 60+ year old Carignan vines are fermented in concreate to produce a medium bodied, luscious wine with flavors of earth, plum and spice. Refreshing acidity makes this a good pairing for smoked meats.
