Erde Wines “Prayers for Rain” 2020
Pacific Northwest, United States
50% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Albariño
Winemaker Kirk Sutherland settled on naming his wines after water related songs by his favorite musicians. In addition to being a song by The Cure, the name of this wine strikes us as a plea to Mother Earth for some nourishment. If not soul shaking, this wine is definitely a thirst quencher. Direct press Cabernet and Albariño are pumped over whole cluster Syrah and then rest with a small amount of Chenin Blanc. As with “Iceblink Luck,” this cuvée’s process was born of necessity to remove lingering smoke notes from the wildfires.
